Alberto Tosi, working on the electronic design of microSPIRE detectors, was invited to give a talk at the “QKD for space systems workshop” organized by Thales Alenia Space in Roma (Italy). New single-photon detectors with high detection efficiency in the 800 – 1600 nm range are required for space applications. microSPIRE could give a good […]

Alberto Tosi, working on the electronic design of microSPIRE detectors, was invited to give a lecture at ESSDERC 2018 tutorial “Autonomous driving: IC robusteness/reliability/readiness, sensing & mobility”. In his lesson “Towards single-photon counting LIDAR for automotive applications” he presented how single-photon detectors can be exploited for automotive LIDAR, a field where microSPIRE detectors will hopefully […]

Fabrizio Rovaris and Andrea Barzaghi, two Ph. D. students participating to the μSPIRE activities, have been awarded the prize for best oral presentation and poster at the ICSI/ISTDM 2018 conference in Potsdam!

The “Accademia Nazionale dei Lincei” is one of the oldest scientific academies in the world being founded in 1603. μSPIRE use of plasma-enhanced epitaxy has been presented during the international congress “CLASSICAL AND QUANTUM PLASMAS:MATTER UNDER EXTREME CONDITIONS” held in wonderful Palazzo Corsini in Rome on April 5-6.

The Research Executive Agency (REA) has organised a workshop on FET-Open projects related to the Space domain on the 2nd of March 2018, where those projects have been presented to the European Space Agency (ESA). microSPIRE has been shortlisted to be presented in this workshop.

The laboratory of optical spectroscopy of semiconductors (LASSEM) of the University of Milano-Bicocca (Milano, Italy) invites applications for a PostDoc Fellowship to start in spring/summer 2018. The LASSEM group seeks to attract outstanding and highly motivated early-career scientists to engage in the EC H2020 FET Project “MicroSPIRE” for a period of two years. Prospective candidates […]

MicroCrystal Silicon and Germanium Single Photon Avalanche Detectors Whilst CMOS single photon avalanche detectors (SPADs) are commercially available, the quantum efficiency is limited by the indirect bandgap and the thickness of the absorption region. At near infrared wavelengths where automotive rangefinding and LIDAR can most easily operate through fog and rain, expensive InGaAs technology limits […]

During his seminar at the Institute for Semiconductor Engineering – University of Stuttgart, Giovanni Isella presented the main objectives and challenges of μSPIRE.

During the national info-day organized byAPRE (the Italian agency supporting participation to EU calls) #h2020 @fet_eu @polimi μSPIRE was presented as a case story of a successful proposal #microSPIRE https://t.co/y8TKtwQQvW pic.twitter.com/Q8wO39EmnK. Indeed the support we got from APRE has been essential during the preparation of the proposal. — Fisica – PoliMi (@fisipolimi) 20 novembre 2017 […]

μSPIRE kick-off meeting. On November 14 and 15 μSPIRE’s partners gathered together in Como at the LNESS laboratory for a two days kick-off meeting.
